Community groups invited to submit an application to participate and celebrate this year’s Fiesta Forty Eight | State Forty Eight theme
SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The Fiesta Bowl is now accepting applications for community groups to be an entry in the 2018 Fiesta Bowl Parade. This year, the parade will celebrate Arizona being the forty-eighth state, in conjunction with the 48th Annual PlayStation® Fiesta Bowl.
First staged in 1972, the Fiesta Bowl Parade is one of the Valley’s long-standing traditions and will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, along its traditional Central Phoenix Parade route. Admission is free to the public with premium and reserved seating available for $25 and the spectacle will be televised live on 3TV Arizona’s Family and available on azfamily.com.
“We are excited to honor our great state of Arizona with this year’s Fiesta Bowl Parade,” said Mike Nealy, Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl. “Arizona has been such a fantastic host to our great bowl game and community service organization for 48 years and this community is a huge part of why the Fiesta Bowl Parade and PlayStation Fiesta Bowl have seen so much success.”
Every year, a combination of more than 2,500 men, women, children, floats, balloons and animals participate in the Fiesta Bowl Parade. The Fiesta Bowl once again invites and encourages groups to submit an application by September 14, 2018, to be a part of the 2018 Fiesta Bowl Parade.
“The Fiesta Bowl Parade continues to be one of Arizona’s signature community events year after year,” said Steve Leach, Chair of the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors. “What makes this event so special are the groups from within our community that march down the parade route each year and we encourage everyone to submit an application to be a part of this great event.”
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. on December 29, 2018, the Fiesta Bowl Parade will showcase a pageantry of brilliantly colored floats, giant balloons, equestrian units, charitable groups, local celebrities and marching bands that will make their way down the two-mile route through central Phoenix. Groups from Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and the competing universities in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl create unique parade floats, march in high school and university bands, celebrate equestrian displays, drive specialty cars, perform and join more than 100,000 fans to take part in the experience.
The Fiesta Bowl Parade will kick off Fiesta Bowl game week, culminating in the 48th Annual PlayStation Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day at 11:00 a.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium.
