Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Program Welcomes DriveTime as Presenting Partner

Wishes for Teachers will donate up to $1 Million to Arizona teachers this season

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The Fiesta Bowl announced today that DriveTime has joined as presenting partner of Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers, a grant program that will donate up to $1 million to 200 Arizona teachers in the form of $5,000 grants this year.

This is the first-ever sports partnership for Tempe-based DriveTime, the nation’s second largest vehicle retailer focused solely on used vehicles. The company operates 145 dealerships in 27 states.

The announcement came as part of a community service project at Justine Spitalny Elementary School in the Cartwright School District, where DriveTime and Fiesta Bowl staff and volunteers fulfilled a wish from a past Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers grant recipient

“Joining with Fiesta Bowl Charities and Wishes for Teachers is significant for DriveTime because we, like the Fiesta Bowl, believe in supporting community service and we have a history of providing financial resources for education,” said Don Reese, DriveTime Chief Executive Officer. “Wishes for Teachers is exceptional in how it helps schools and teachers upgrade facilities, provide needed equipment and support student learning.”

With the new partnership, DriveTime will sponsor the teachers section at the 30th Annual Cheez-It Bowl where teachers sit during the game as part of their game and on-field recognition. The company will also grant 10 teacher wishes during the first-ever Wishes for Teachers Draft Day on October 25, when teachers are selected and informed of their grant award. DriveTime receives recognition in all Wishes for Teachers program activities and assets, including digital and social media.

Created in 2016, Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers grants classroom wishes to teachers across the state. In its first two years, Wishes for Teachers granted $1.2 million to Arizona teachers, impacting over 60,000 students.

Along with the financial gift, teachers are invited to walk in the Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade, presented by Cheez-It and be recognized on-field at the Cheez-It Bowl on December 26. Applications for this year will close on October 8 and all K-12 teachers, in public and charter schools, are encouraged to apply.
